The Tour Pages
The next 2024 Scout Band Tour was announced at the Annual Picnic as The Route 66 Highlights by Train Tour to occur June 11th thru 19th, 2024. This is a unique way to tour that the Band has not had the opportunity to do. Typically in the past we have caravaned in cars and trailers and also by bus and Band Truck, but never by Train!
The trip will start at the Indianapolis Airport where we will park our cars, then load up on a Free Enterprise bus to arrive in Chicago's Union Station where we will play at and tour the Field Museum of Natural History, find the Route 66 Start sign, eat dinner at Navy Pier, and spend the night. Early the next morning we will catch the Amtrak Train to points along the way including St. Louis to visit the St. Louis Union Station attractions and sleep at the Hotel, Kansas City to change trains, Albequerque NM where we will visit the Nuclear Science Museum and ride the longest Areial Tramway and load up in a caravan of vans to tour the Santa Fe trail and portions of the Route 66 Highway, Flagstaff AZ where we will load up on a bus to visit the Grand Canyon, then on to Los Angeles CA, to visit Grand Central Market and ride the world's shortest train, Santa Monica Pier, and the final Route 66 End Sign. Then we will return by airline to Indianapolis.
Applications are now closed and reservations have already been made. If you need more information about this Tour please contact Mr. Bill or Patty.
If you are a memeber of the Harvey U Gill Alumni Association, please consider joining us on tour or at least providing a donation or youth sponsorship to help us get there! Contact Mr. Bill or Janet Foster about how to make donations.
See Mr. Bill or Patty to pay the final balance due and turn in Health Forms. Also, you will need a current BSA Medical Form or go to the Scouting America Annual Health Form Webpage at www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr as well. Don't forget to bring a copy of your family's Insurance Card to file with the Medical Form in case it is needed on Tour. If you don't turn these items in early, bring them to the Shakedown Rehearsal just before Tour
Usually each participant pays their own way for Tour, however, there are several ways to raise the monies needed. Pie Sales, Butter Braid Sales and volunteering at Lucas Oil Stadium are all opportunities to earn the funds.
Also, scholarships are being offer for those who have a finanical hardship and youth can earn Band Bucks and save them to bid for a tour after they have attended a tour and many rehearsals. Click on the Fundraising Page to see all the latest opportunities.
