Crossroads of America Scout Band
2016 Western Tour

Devils Tower, Crazy Horse, Jewel Cave, Medicine Mountian Scout Camp, and Mount Rushmore

Our very busy day started by visiting a new state. We went to Devils Tower in Wyoming. There were a few people who made it all the way around the base of the tower in the short time we spent there. Next came the Crazy Horse Memorial to see the world’s largest sculpture and learn a little about Crazy Horse, the monument’s ongoing construction, and visit the Native American Educational and Culture Center. Our next adventure took us to Jewel Cave National Monument. We split into two groups, one group went on the Scenic Tour, and most of the Scouts opted for the more strenuous Historic Lantern Tour. Our fourth stop of the day took us to the Medicine Mountain Scout Camp where we were able to visit with an old friend, Tim Bouchard, who used to work in our Council. Concert number five was enjoyed by the Scouts in this beautiful mountain camp. We still had one more stop before our day was done. We made it to Mount Rushmore just as the sculpture was being lit for the evening.
