Day 7 - America's National Parade on July 4th and Fireworks
After getting up earlier for breakfast at the hotel we headed back to Washington DC to participate in the parade on the National Mall called America's National July 4th Parade. We arrived by bus at the marshalling location next to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. We were already wearing our Class "A" shirts so all we had to do was unload the truck and the bus and get our flags and instruments ready to march. Then we wondered down to our line up location somewhere on Independence Avenue where we would start to march from. Emily Dick from WTWO TV Station in Terre Haute met us there and conducted video interviews of youth Crew members. The parade took us up to Constitution Avenue and down past the Washington Memorial plaza to the end point. After a hot and humid march, the Crew decided to eat lunch at Union Station and return to the hotel to relax, eat dinner, and watch the fireworks show. Most of us watched the fireworks show and the PBS Concert on the hotel dining lobby TV set while a few ventured out to one of the bridges near the hotel to watch fireworks.
