Crossroads of America Scout Band 2003 Tour
Day 3

It's Day 3, we didn't have a concert, but we had a lot of fun and saw a lot of scenery
This is Wyoming.  We are following the Oregon, California, Mormon and Pony Express trails.  This is one of the many landmarks that the pioneers used to trace their way, it's called Chimney Rock.

We had a little extra time and took a side trip the Fort Laramie.  This is the original trading post.

Many of the structures have been restored, and some are as they were left a hundred years ago.

This is the restored troop barracks at the fort.

A very interesting interpreter and a replica cannon of the period, capable of sending a solid shot a thousand yards out, pretty impressive!

More of the restored buildings.

I made everybody stop here so that I could get this picture of the view, in the background is another landmark, Mount Laramie.

A little closer view of Mt. Laramie

At the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center, I found these words to be the most impressive of them all.

This is the view from the Trails Center, this is the last view that the pioneers had of the North Platte River, from this point the trails split apart and the pioneers went to their separate destinations.

Howard gave the hand cart a try to see if he could have pulled one along the trails.

Our next stop was at the Fort Casper Museum, where we met this gentleman, both mountain man (and eagle scout)

The Big Bang!

This is a recreation of Fort Casper in Casper, Wyoming

Our new digs for this evening are very fancy, just look at the balcony we have outside our room!  ;)

That's enough for now, we are heading off to the Grand Teton National Park tomorrow and won't be able to update for a couple of days, but don't fret, we'll keep the pictures coming!
